What's with all the criticism about the show not being kid-friendly, even though it was the first Super Bowl halftime show performance that included a lot of children? Since when is the aggressive sport of football with its cheerleaders in skimpy outfits categorized kid-friendly?

And what's with all the over-sexualized comments putting Latin girls in shame and danger? When it comes to pop culture, I do not see a difference in what Shakira and JLo wear to perform to what Taylor Swift or Beyonce wear to perform theirs; and moms love them. Michael Jackson grabbed his crotch his entire career, and Madonna simulated masturbation on stage and had that whole ultra sex fetish phase.*

Shakira's father parents were Lebanese immigrants and she has been belly dancing since she was four years old. She is very proud of her Lebanese-Latina roots and she honored both of them on the show. The crazy tongue thing she did into the camera is called zaghrouta, it’s Arabic and represents the vocal of joy or thrills.* So to those misinterpreting it I'd say, get your head out of the gutter!
About the pole dancing, it takes some serious athleticism to do what JLo does on that pole and on that stage. Those are not "stripper moves," #acting. Everyone knows that JLo started her career as a serious professional dancer is a popular TV show and even had her own dance show World of Dance. I haven't watched Hustlers, but JLo learned to pole dance to star in that film which is social commentary story telling. The stripping industry in the U.S. is HUGE. And although alarming, it means that a lot of women are having to use their gifts, talents, athleticism to get out of certain life circumstances in that way. Some have even found financial empowerment and a platform to get out of it to do other things, like American pop singer of Dominican descent Cardi B who says "Look, I don't dance now I make money moves". Plus, lots of women have taken to pole dancing lessons as fitness, it's even offered at some gyms!
